Why a neglected chimney is a fire and water problem
Every fire leaves creosote on the flue walls, and creosote burns. Left to build up, it is what turns a chimney fire from unlikely into a matter of time. Regina adds its own problem: dry prairie winters pull moisture out of the mortar and freeze-thaw cycles crack what is left. Water gets into the brick, and the damage spreads from a hairline gap to spalled masonry and a damp ceiling. We sweep the flue, inspect it with a camera, rebuild the crown, repoint the brick, and reseal the flashing where the stack meets the roof.
